Citywide Mosquito Spraying Scheduled Tuesday

The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project has tentatively scheduled truck-mounted pesticide applications in Worcester on Tuesday, August 11. The date is part of the city's response after West Nile virus was detected in a Worcester mosquito trap, but spraying can change because of weather, mosquito populations, virus activity or special events. Specific neighborhoods will receive notices. Residents in treatment areas should close street-facing windows, keep pets inside from sunset to midnight, stay indoors during spraying and for 15 to 20 minutes afterward, and wash garden vegetables before eating them.
