Stormwater Basin Construction Begins Monday

Construction of a new 12-acre stormwater detention basin at Central Arizona College is scheduled to begin Monday, August 3, in Apache Junction. The city says the basin will temporarily capture stormwater and reduce peak flows along the Palm Wash and Weekes Wash corridors, helping protect nearby roads, neighborhoods, and infrastructure. Work is expected to take about 65 days, with substantial completion anticipated in October if weather and field conditions allow. Portions of East Broadway Road on the college campus will have temporary closures and traffic restrictions, so drivers should follow posted signs and alternate routing.
