Airdrie Approves Faster Recreation Centre Plan

Airdrie City Council approved an accelerated approach for the new southwest recreation centre on July 7. The full facility will be built and opened as one complete project, including aquatics areas, a fitness centre, family activity zone, arenas, fieldhouse, gymnasium and public indoor running track. The City now projects the facility will open in 2030, with construction estimated to begin in 2027. The project is moving from schematic design into detailed design, giving residents across Airdrie, including Sagewood, an updated timeline for a major future recreation amenity.
