Students Power Jackalope

Ventura Unified students are helping shape the first Jackalope Block Party Ventura, a free three-day festival running May 1 through May 3 at California Street and Main Street in downtown Ventura. Buena High woodshop students built a skate ramp for the event, art students added Ventura-themed design work, and decorated skateboard decks from students across eight secondary schools will be on display. The district also says its student art show opens the same weekend at Vita Arts Center, with a May 1 reception from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. for elementary and middle school artists and 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for high school artists.
