Volunteers Restore Slater Park Shoreline

Mercer Island Parks and Recreation will hold a shoreline restoration work party at Slater Park on Saturday, September 12, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will remove blackberry roots encroaching on the beach and grass seating area. No experience is required, and the city will provide gloves and tools. All ages are welcome, but participants age 14 and younger must volunteer with a parent or guardian at a ratio of one adult for every three children. Dress for outdoor work, bring water, and register in advance through the city volunteer sign-up.
