Cooling Program Applications Close August 31

Eligible East Elmhurst residents still have time to apply for New York State's Essential Plan Cooling Program, which provides a free air conditioner for delivery and installation. Applications are accepted through August 31, 2026, or until funding runs out, whichever comes first. Applicants must be enrolled in the Essential Plan through NY State of Health, have at least one qualifying health condition, and attest that their household has not received a cooling unit through this program or HEAP in the past five years. Residents should review the eligibility rules and submit an application as soon as possible.
