Purple Flags Honor Overdose Victims

Methuen will hold a flag placement event Thursday, August 27, at 3:30 p.m. outside the Methuen Police Department, 90 Hampshire Street. Organizers plan to place 1,400 purple flags representing people who lost their lives to overdose in 2025. The event is scheduled to last until 4:30 p.m. and is listed as weather permitting, so residents should check current city updates if rain or severe weather threatens.
