Canal Assessment Hearing Scheduled

Walton County will hold a public hearing Tuesday, August 25, at 1 p.m. at the South Walton Courthouse Annex, 31 Coastal Centre Boulevard, Santa Rosa Beach, on continued special assessments for the Daughette Canal Municipal Service Benefit Unit. The assessments would support sediment removal, navigational-marker work and ongoing canal maintenance for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026. The county estimates the assessment at $325 per allowable boat slip. Affected property owners may appear and provide public comment at the hearing.
