Extreme Heat Warning Covers Gold Canyon

The National Weather Service continued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Apache Junction and Gold Canyon area on August 1, with dangerously hot afternoon temperatures of 109 to 118 degrees and major to extreme heat risk. The warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Monday, August 3. Residents should reschedule strenuous outdoor activity when possible, drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned places, and check on neighbors who may be vulnerable to heat illness. Anyone showing signs of heat stroke should be moved to a cool place and receive emergency help by calling 911.
